We are inside the C.B. Theater. For the past year, “The Curtain Call Productions” has performed “Star Explorer’s” a slightly mediocre sci-fi themed musical. The stage is currently empty, ready to be filled with props, sets, and costumed actors. It is 2 hours before the show begins.

A dark stage. JAMIE ROXBURG enters. She is the new stage manager for an original musical production, and has come to work early. She sings.

I've been studying years for this chance

This stage comes alive
With actors who thrive
To step in the spotlight

One year to this day
We started this play

Since then we performed
The crowds start to swarm
Reviews ranked us high

But our star got replaced
The director disgraced with our stage manager in a fight
